I went to the bank with Federica this morning and used the ATM, and, as it goes, I put in my credit card, chose the amount I wanted (after choosing to read these options in English), and the most incredible thing happened- out came cash! Incredible! ;D So now I have my very first Euros (pronounced here Eh-oo-ro), and I am officially a girl with money in Italy! (scary).
As a side note because I have very little else to say and I want to make it worth your valuable and much-appreciated time of checking to see if I've done any tricks ;) the banks here have "time locks" as a safety precaution. What this means is that in order to get in the door to the bank, you have to stand outside, press an button, and then wait for the door to open for you. Then you step inside what is sometimes a little room, sometimes a little one-person capsule with two doors, and the door closes behind you and you press another button, and wait for the second door to open, and THEN you enter the bank. This is probably a confusing description, but the point is that it takes quite a bit of time, at the LEAST three minutes, and that is if there is not a line and you do not have any trouble with the buttons. This process is for going both in and out, so if you wanted to rob the place... you see the point?
I am getting picked up now by the mom of Sylvia, one of the girls my age who went on the pilgrimage- I am going to spend the night there with the girls and come back tomorrow; I am going to my first SLEEPOVER in Italy!!! :D
Ciao, buonanotte
